Ever heard of cats who befriend mouse?
Well, in that case, meet Simon!
Simon is a cat and he has a rather interesting way of getting rid of unwanted pests. He turns them into guests!
Simon lives with his owner, Benjamín Sagredo, in the city of Punta Arenas, Chile. A few weeks ago, Segredo started hearing strange noises coming from his kitchen. The noises were faint and occurred only occasionally, so he wasn’t too worried about them. “We didn’t know what it was,” Sagredo told. “We had seen Simon playing with something under an armchair once, but we didn’t give it much thought.”
It turns out Simon had met an intruder who was making sounds. And he wanted to make it feel welcome!
One morning Benjamin stepped into his kitchen to a surprise. Simon was drinking water from his bowl and next to him was his new companion. A mouse!
The cat has made friends with its arch-enemy, it appears!
“They looked closely acquainted. Simon was being affectionate,” Sagredo said. “I decided to record it. I thought no one would believe me.”

As expected, Benjamin was shocked. However, seeing how Simon approached the mouse, he couldn’t help but eventually share the same view.
“I felt for the little mouse. I couldn’t dream of hurting him,” Sagredo said. “I named him Chefcito.”
At first, Benjamin collected the mouse and took him outside thinking that he wanted to escape. But the muse had decided otherwise. He had decided that this house was a nice place to spend his days in!
“He’s been back several times,” Sagredo said. “We love that Simon accepts him. He’s a very affectionate and sociable cat. If Chefcito keeps coming, we’re going to have to adopt him.”
